In accordance with the Bylaws of the Malaysia International Film Awards:
Article III, Section 1.
Membership is granted by invitation of the Board of Governors. Invitations to active membership are reserved for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional achievement in the motion picture arts and sciences — through their credited screen work or through a body of work that, in the opinion of the Board, reflects the highest standards of excellence in cinema.
To be considered for invitation to the Actors Branch of the Malaysia International Film Awards, a candidate must meet at least one of the following criteria:
(a) Have a minimum of three credited performances in scripted roles in theatrical feature films, at least one of which was released in the past five years, and all of which exemplify the caliber of artistic excellence that defines the Malaysia International Film Awards: Academy’s standards.
and/or
(b) Have been nominated for an Malaysia International Film Award in one of the acting categories.
or
(c) Have, in the judgment of the Actors Branch Executive Committee, achieved exceptional distinction, earned special merit, or made an outstanding contribution as a motion picture actor — demonstrating a body of work that has significantly enriched the art of cinema.
